Yumei Foods USA, Inc. recalls ineligible Siluriform products imported from China

WASHINGTON, DC – Yumei Foods USA, Inc., a facility in City of Industry, California, is recalling approximately 9,370 pounds of imported Siluriform products. The products were imported from the People’s Republic of China, a country ineligible to export Siluriform processed products to the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today. .

The following products are subject to recall, regardless of product date [View Labels]:

  • 13.051 oz. (370 g) plastic packages containing fish “FISH FILLET WITH SPICY SOUP”. Freeze-dried technology. No preservative.
  • 12.35 oz. (350g) plastic packaging containing “FISH FILLET WITH MARINATED SOUP” Freeze-Dried Tech Fish. No preservative.

Products do not bear an establishment number or USDA inspection mark. These items were shipped to retail and wholesale outlets nationwide.

The problem was discovered during a routine FSIS surveillance activity on imported products. China is allowed to import raw Siluriform products into the United States, but not processed or ready-to-eat Siluriform products.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse effects due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS is concerned that consumers may still be in possession of the product. Consumers who have purchased these products are asked not to consume them. These products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS regularly conducts recall effectiveness checks to ensure that recalling companies are notifying their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
