Werewolf-like creature caught on Texas zoo surveillance camera

A bizarre image captured on CCTV footage has left Texas residents and internet sleuths scratching their heads.

According to CNB 5, the photo in question was taken around 1:30 a.m. on May 21 at the Amarillo Zoo. The image appears to show the silhouette of a strange figure walking along a chain-link fence. Although the details are difficult to make out, the figure appears to have a dog face and the ability to move on its hind legs.

The daily star reports that a zoo groundskeeper was the first to spot the “wolfman-like” creature on motion-activated security cameras. There would be no video of the odd character, just the photo released by city officials.

“Is it a person with a strange hat who likes to walk around at night? A chupacabra? read a tweet from the city of Amarillo. “Do you have any ideas what this UAO – Unidentified Amarillo Object might be?”

Twitter users weighed in on the mystery and offered a wide range of theories. Some have jokingly determined that the figure was a werewolf or owl riding on the back of a drunken man. Others were convinced it was a coyote trying to scale the fence, or maybe a weird angle from a zoo worker.

“It’s definitely a weird and interesting picture,” Michael Kashuba, the city’s director of parks and recreation, told NBC 5. “Maybe Amarillo can help solve the mystery of our UAO. It’s [also] important to note that this entity was outside the Amarillo Zoo. There was no sign of any attempt to enter the zoo. No animals or people were injured. There, we have no signs of criminal activity or vandalism.
