How it works

The San Leandro Police Department is committed to our partnership with residents and business owners. Many business owners and residents currently use surveillance systems in their businesses and/or homes. As crimes happen nearby, they are not always aware that their system may have captured information that could help solve the crime, thus keeping our community safe. In turn, the police also don’t always know who may have this potentially life-saving information. Cameras are also a good deterrent to prevent theft from happening.

The police department is asking residents and businesses across the city to register their private surveillance camera systems. As the police department responds to criminal incidents in our community, they may be able to use information or footage gathered from security cameras to assist in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals involved. .
