Man wanted for role in New York shooting may have purchased goods from WI fireworks store

(WFRV) – A man with Wisconsin ties is now wanted by the New York Police Department following a shooting that occurred Tuesday morning at a New York City subway station.

The New York Police Department said Frank Robert James is wanted in connection with the shooting that occurred inside a subway car on Tuesday. James allegedly fired multiple shots inside an ‘N’ line subway car at a New York City subway station.

Phantom Fireworks released the following statement:

On June 21, 2021, someone named Frank James from Milwaukee purchased pyrotechnics from the Phantom Fireworks Showroom in Caledonia, WI, just outside of Racine. Four of the purchased items are believed to be the same items shown in a photograph released by NBC on April 12, 2022. This “bag with fireworks” was identified as having been left behind by the Brooklyn subway shooter.

No CCTV footage of the purchase is available. Therefore, Phantom Fireworks cannot confirm that the buyer and the person of interest are the same person.

Phantom Fireworks is cooperating with investigating authorities.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those hurt and affected by this terrible event.

If you have any questions, please call head office and ask for Bruce Zoldan or Bill Weimer.
