Homeowner discovers bullet holes, CCTV captures apparent shooting

GASTONIA, NC (WBTV) — A Gaston County homeowner is hoping someone will come forward after she says shots were fired at her home.

“It was shocking. You know, I was gone by the grace of God. I had just left maybe 15-20 minutes before it happened,” Sondra Short said.

Short’s surveillance camera captured it all. She says the apparent shooting left six bullet holes in her 30-year-old home on Trexlar Avenue.

She says it’s also an area she’s known all her life.

The idea of children playing outside worries him. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

“If there had been a child here…if my grandchildren had been here, because they usually stay with us on the weekends. So, you know, they could have been here, you know, and just the thought of it happening to somebody’s kid is what really draws me in,” she said.

Gastonia police confirm they have been called and say they are investigating.

“It’s just that it happens in broad daylight. We don’t know who it was, you know? It’s really shocking,” Short said. “You know, it’s terrifying. I hear a lot of gunshots in the neighborhood. But to point them to my property or if I had been on the porch or my husband in the yard, you know? It was never directly against me. It happens, but you never think it’s going to happen to you until it does.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Gastonia Police Department.
