Dimapur, July 13 (EMN):
In a worrying development, Dimapur has witnessed three cases of robbery in the past six days, in which armed robbers (including toy guns) attempted to carry out a burglary in broad daylight.

On July 12 at around 4:30-4:45 p.m., a gunman wearing a helmet was caught on surveillance camera robbing a cell phone store in the state mall.

CCTV footage shows a man brandishing a gun at the woman behind the counter before rushing out of the store with boxes.

When contacted, the Dimapur Police PRO told Eastern Mirror that a complaint has been received about the matter and an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Police sources also informed that the incident happened at a shop located at the Clock Tower, a popular landmark in Dimapur.

In another unreported incident, a masked man wearing a cap allegedly attempted to loot a grocery store in Lotha settlement on July 12 while brandishing a toy gun.

According to the merchant, the miscreant came to the grocery store twice in a scooter on Tuesday.

The unidentified man reportedly left the scene when he saw customers thronging the store when he came in the morning, only to return in the afternoon. Seeing the shopkeeper alone on the second visit, the miscreant pulled out a toy gun and demanded money, which caused a confrontation.

The shopkeeper said the miscreant fled the scene on his scooty when customers started arriving in the store.

It can be mentioned that on July 7, Dimapur police apprehended five disbelievers as they tried to extort money from a petrol pump near Theja Fort Hotel.
